It's in reserve. Peeled tescos sprouts are a favourite at the moment. :) Still not very interested in Privet.
Try collecting from a different source. Often leaves have too much pollution or whatever on their surface or simply are too old and other plants of the same species are preferred. Also they tend to like green privet more than variagated.

My Atta never touched the variegated privet, but the standard green, soft leaf privet was a hit any day.

Atta cephalotes (2019)
Camponotus detritus (2018)
Camponotus maculatus (2018)

............So little update from me. As already mentioned in the foods section i have been using Tescos peeled sprouts, apples almonds Organic Quinoa and frozen Black berry and Raspberry leaves, and also Birds eye frozen peas ( cooked ). Hopefully this will see them through the winter. They are taking Privet now better than before but it's way down on their favourite food list.

My ants have been very active, all temps and humidity have stayed remarkably stable and i have kept the foraging tank at about 26c. I have had no escapes although they try and walk on the top they just can't grip the PTFE barrier. Because the lid is open the PTFE doen't get wet so will last longer. Feeding is also very easy but i don't yet have the numbers yet but definitely expanding.

Yesterday i noticed that in pod 2 the ants have began to move soil into it. Now,, are they thinking of expanding the fungus, or because the fungus has nearly out grown pod 1 and they are trying to make room. I think they are trying to make more room before they commit to a move. Anyway i will let them decide and won't interfere. Pod 3 has been completely sealed off by them and is not in use.

I have taken down my online web cam as it's costing me and i can watch them on a personal app from my phone anyway. Alsomakes my wife happy because the camera is outside the bath room door and she doesnt have to remember to close the door now :)

Nice update Andy, it's good when they do unexpected things like this to keep you guessing. Could you tell us what app you use? Do you need a lap top on 24/7?
Your wife having to be careful because of the ant can is hilarious

The App is part of the cam software so you can check your pets/home security when your away. It's private and not open to the public. I was spending £15 a month to have my cam public and i wasnt worth it really.
