Only so much you can do on the computer, think we would need to see it really. Got a feeling it will be down to humidity though,

But the humidity is really high. Even when you put your hand in there it comes out damp. It's a real strange thing

Marco, if I was you I would do something dramatic and radical. Take your fungus garden and break it up and scatter it around your feeding area. Make sure you offer the ants a dry habitat with no soil and the one they came from so they have a choice. The problem with Acros is if its too wet or too dry they will stop feeding. Give them a choice and they will reset up their fungus in the place they prefer. Make sure the conditions in the feeding area are humid enough that the fungus will be OK for a few hours while the ants are messing around with this. Tell me what you think?

It's working! They're moving the fungus to a new nest! Its the exact same as the old one. Weird how they prefer this to the moat setup....
Thanks Andrew!

Okay, not out of the woods yet. When they do this they normally go into a feeding frenzy and start to add lots to the garden. You need to make sure that ALL of their favourites are available over the next 48 hours to catch this. What you have basically done here is used a defibrillator on your colony by causing the ants to react to a cataclysmic incident. So they have moved completely out of the state of hanging around and not doing anything into a response of saving the nest. You need to keep them there by making them start to feed it. I know you say the humidity is good. Do you have a probe actually measuring humidity at the fungus garden? Can you do this without disturbing them too much.

Yes the probe is inside the nesting box just underneath the peat layer.

How close is the probe to the actual fungus garden. Ideally we need it touching the fungus or at least immediately adjacent to it in the actual chamber the fungus s in. It needs to be in air also rather than in the soil.
