Daubz ant loft
This weekend i started work on my ant loft ive got as much boarded as possible we need to get rid of a tank before i can do much more, ive built a big shelf down one side im not sure if i should stick to mu original plan and build a shelving unit for my attas or use the shelf i built today for them, If not i will use this for my other species.Im going to insulate this area that i have boarded off and heat the entire area to 24°c. Still a lot to do but i will keep posting the progress.
The area is bigger than the photos make it look.

Re: Daubz ant loft
what do you think to the idea of me using the shelf ive built, will it be big enough to house a mature colony? its 3.5 metres long and about 600mm wide, ive work out i could get approx 24 20x20x what ever height i want pods on it and i planned to drill through the shelf and take a tube down for the dump.

Can we call this thread "flowers in the attic....getting turned in to fungus" I like it a lot! You need some insulation behind that board tho, it will save you a fortune long term! If you where nearer i'd give you some!

You can pick the u-foil up from ebay, always fairly cheap as people always buy more than they need!

You can get an epic colony of Leaf Cutters on that shelf.

You could potentially stack it on two levels?

Re: Daubz ant loft
I want it to be like a proper display colony, im going to have 14-20 mtrs of tubing round the loft and im going to get a solid plastic pond liner with island in it as the outworld for them in the centre of the loft, im going for about a mtr squared.deansie26 wrote:Looking forward to this Daubz, like your go big time vision for your Atta!
