The Green Planet is a bio-dome inviting visitors to explore our planet’s fascinating flora and fauna through an immersive expedition into the tropics. Designed as an enclosed ecosystem, The Green Planet recreates the enchanting world of the tropical forest with over 3,000 plants and animals and the world’s largest indoor man-made and life-sustaining tree. The educational and recreational facility is set to raise awareness for the delicate balance of nature and the preciousness of one of our world’s oldest living ecosystems, making it the ideal educational destination for the entire family.’

One of my jobs during my trip there was to build housing for the off show Leaf Cutting Ant colonies they had. These were glass construction and I built them in the loading bay. I asked for 4 sheets of glass to be delivered and everything else I needed, tools, silicone etc, I brought with me.  Here are some of the pictures I took during the build….

The actual display housing was delivered on during day 1 of my visit. It is designed to exhibit the ants in the lower chambers and have them feeding above. The colour is white which will display the ants and the leaves very well. I am due to revisit in a few weeks to ensure all is well with the setup.
