For only the second time in 25 years I have found a genuine two queen Atta colony. Fungus about size of golf ball, around 100 ants and two queens. Amazing. It's like the golden chalice of keeping Leaf Cutting Ants. I'll post a picture when I can.

Wow , how much does a two queened colony usually go for
is it likely as they grow they will kill a queen ?

The experiment Andrew done combining 2 queens initially showed promise but in the end resulted in a single queen remaining so I'm assuming they would be purchased as singular colonys to be combined at buyers risk. Me assuming though, getting itchy for one Adam

Hey Deansie , perhaps he he,

Just wondering if a two queened colony collected fairs better then a colony with two queens introduced. could it be the queens are nest mates from a colony before there mating flight.

Heres a picture of them.
Dont know what the value is. I suppose two small colonies worth. But its the rarity. I think a wild combined colony would be more likely to survive. The previous 2 queened colony I found was quite big. Really interesting find though. It is for sale. Based on the alternative of splitting and selling separately I would probably want around £250 but open to offers. This might be the wrong section to mention for sale and a price, mayby Deansie will move this post or block it!

Think that's a banning offence, can I please? Lol.
Would that not be a great colony for a commercial set up? Ifbthey stayed harmonious it would be banging in know time.
I wonder if they are queens that flew from the same colony and that's why they get on? Would explain how rare it is to find them.

Personally I think its two founding colonies dug next to each other. As they dug their chambers there would come a point where the two chambers were separated by almost nothing and this would give time for the scents to mix so when they eventually do meet the ants will tolerate each other.

I would be interested in this 2 Queen colony, when my Atta colony sells. Always wanted a 2 Queen Atta colony.
Really good to see this happening in nature.
