LC Ants HT GroPods™ Gen IV for Leaf Cutter Ants

Introducing the LC Ants HydroThermo Series GroPods™, the world's first automatic, all-in-one heated and humidified housing solution, designed specifically for leaf cutter ants!

Our brand new, 4th generation GroPods have been completely re-imagined. The industry's first commercially available heated & humidified system is here! With a staggering 180% larger capacity than our 3rd Generation GroPods, and a whopping 275% larger capacity than alternate imitation products! This means you are able to house an extremely large fungus garden without the need to add on extra modules in a small space of time. The 4th Generation GroPods have been the design and testing phase for over a year, this means that you will receive a tried & tested product which is guaranteed to be the best housing option ever!

The HT insert holds a body of water which is heated, resulting in evaporation of the warm humid air which passes through fine slots in the insert to enter the GroPod. This forms convection currents of heat inside the GroPod, simultaneously heating and humidifying.

This is the ULTIMATE housing solution for Leaf Cutter Ants, combining a highly practical design, with a beautiful view of your ants.

Amazing pics and a great design. Any updates, thoughts or progress report on how they are doing?

Hi, yes some refinements have been made to the design since release.

The biggest change is the introduction of a sliding cover for the HT Insert. This allows you to change the amount of humid air entering the GroPods™, additionally providing a 'heat only' option for colonies which are large and have become self regulating with regards to humidity.

Secondly, the HT Insert is now available to purchase separately, so you can upgrade your standard 4th Gen GroPods™ by simply sliding the insert into the bore in the lid.

The HT Insert has been slightly tweaked to include an easy lift cover, to make it easier to top up the water.

For those who are keeping their GroPods™ in a room which varies in temperature often, we are now advising the use of an on/off thermostat to be connected up to the water heater and adjusted as necessary.

Raj, great to hear from you! The pods are looking good. I love the continued development. Separating the heating column makes really good sense. It also opens up the tantalising prospect of using this product, possibly with a few modifications, as a heating / humidifying unit for amphibians and other vertebrates. Such a great product, its uses are wide and varied. Its realy a case of finding a way of explaining why this is good to prospective customers. Have you thought of rebranding the pods as a multipurpose humidity unit for use with leaf cutters and other humidity loving organisms who need a stable and constant temperature and humidity that can be adjusted to suit?

UK made formicaria for ants is what we specialise in, though it is a possibility for the future.

Essentially if someone wanted to add heating and humidity to a tank for example, they could purchase the HT Insert and get a custom acrylic lid made (we offer this service already ;) ), and they now have a heating and humidification system which can be adjusted to the requirements of whatever they wish to keep. There are some obvious limitations to this though.

Also, for those interested, here's a link to our specialist range of leaf cutter units: https://www.lcants.uk/product-category/ ... ormicaria/
