Nest Humidity Requirement

Post by mcwoodhill1 » Wed Dec 26, 2018 1:53 am

I'm trying to figure out what range of humidity is required for leafcutter ants but basically found nothing online. Would anyone kindly share any information about this? Basically the species are

Acromyrmex Octospinocus

Atta Laevigata

Atta Cephalotes

Big thanks in advance

Hi, I'm sure it's dependant on your set-up. Sorry it's so quiet on here, not sure where everyone has gone to!

Our colony of Atta cephalotes is in a display unit, 3m x 2.6m x 600mm. I keep the humidity around 70% ambient, but the humidity inside the nest is higher than that. We don't have an internal nest humidity data recorder. I hope someone else can help you with this info soon.

I keep my Humidity at 99% and temp at 24 - 26 Celcius. They prefer as high as possible humidity so the the higher you can get it the better.
