Fungus

Post by Formica123 » Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:18 pm

Riccardo sent me this picture of his Atta fungus and I really want to know what the white fluffy stuff is? Is it good for the ants or Something? I think I heard before they use it as anti-bacterial or medicene?

That is an area of growth that the ants have not managed to control. Might be betterfor Ric to remove it with a spoon. Rest of the fungus looks great. That happens sometimes. As long as it doesnt spread it will be fine. Leaf Cutters try to practice monoculture and the presence of any other species is not desirable. Sometimes they need a help.

No just play it by ear. Should resolve itself. Nothing to worry about, Ric.
