Lights will not bother ants above ground at all. Jamies got it right about the heat mat thingie. But once your temp is stable the soil will buffer temperature changes in the room and help insulate the nest so no matter what the room is your ants will be good. The air temp will not be so high but the ants will forage down to 20C or so. That means you can have a temp difference of 3-4C in the air without affecting the ants too much as long as you feed directly by the nest. In any event this wont be a real problem until later in the year now.

Cheers for reply bud. So after many many hours tinkering and fannying about temp sensor in soil has been sat at 25.1 for the last 3 hours so think I've finally cracked it. humidity in tank is a nice 90+% so roll on tomorrow when the fun begins. Thanks for the advice :D
