Pipe size

Post by Formica123 » Tue Dec 22, 2015 5:45 pm

Is 16mm inner diameter big enough for piping (Acromyrmex and atta)?

I think 16mm is a little small. For a small colony with light traffic its fine but it would be a waste of time in a commercial setup. A dozen ants carrying leaves passing each other. I think sooner or later there would be a jam and everything would grind to a halt. It is workable on a small scale though.

More than enough, somewhere in between is better I think.

I use 30/32mm as standard and 50/52mm for the highway.

Atta cephalotes (2019)
Camponotus detritus (2018)
Camponotus maculatus (2018)

50mm is quite wide, maybe too wide, I think I'll stick with 32mm throughout
