The fungus has orange watery bits on it? Mine too, but mine is growing fine. I think it's just a sap it produces.

They will no doubt be recommending that size for a fish tank not an ant tank lol, to be honest the size is not that important. set it to 30 degrees and that should give you air temp of around 25 degrees give or take and then adjust from there.
