Amazonia at M&D's amusement park

Post by Deansie26 » Sat Dec 12, 2015 10:40 pm

I visited this colony today, sorry for the poor photos as I was using my mobile.
The colony was out foraging which was nice, they come from the nest via a rope- over a little bridge onto a feeding platform that's on water. I could only see a small fungus garden in one of the boxes but I assume there must be more out of view. The nest room was blacked out hence my photos of the tanks are black apart from the light though the glass.
Is a really nice set up though and I hope it really takes off.

Did you like the feeding table in the water. We made that out of concrete and had to carry it in to the pond, two of us. Very heavy.

Yeh it was nice! Must have been heavy. How long ago did you built this set up?

A while ago now. Did you feel the ants were doing well or not. In the time they have been there you would expect a lot of activity. I can't see much detail in the small tanks.

I hope they are but I would have expected far more nest activity, going from what I could see I would be worried if there wasn't alot more fungus hidden. When they took it from me they had about 2 shoe boxes of fungus and I could only see a fraction of that. Fingers crossed I just couldn't see everything.
There using a little soil in the set up now compared to what they did and I wonder if they measure the humidity. Need to see how it gets on.
