Heads Of Ayr Farm Park

Post by Acromyrmexbob » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:21 pm

This set up was built by us last year and the colony has been in place for 18 months now. It is truly huge! We built the main structure in wood and then added an Aztec theme to the surfaces. The ants are in a glass tank. Here's some pictures of the set up.

The ants are numbering in the hundreds of thousands I think. Very impressive growth rate, a feature of Atta!

We had a family day out in the summer there and I was unaware they had a colony, they looked super and the fungus was really big, the glass front was actually completely covered in fungus.
How was this one heated?
I'm obsessed with how set ups are heated!

Heated with a 1kw fan heater underneath and a room thermostat!
