I going to use an oil filled radiator to heat the room, any idea what wattage will be needed to heat this area to 24°c ?
ants i keep:-
Atta cephalotes
Polyrhachis dives
Camponotus cruentatus
Camponotus ligniperdus
Camponotus barbaricus
Formica cunicularia
Messor barbarus
Lasius niger

I'd go 500W maybe with good insulation. It'll cost not much per day. You will need a small fan also, no cost to run that. If not the heat will sit at the ceiling.

How would you position every thing in the room? I thought fan and radiator either end of the room and thermostat in the centre of the room.

Well previously when I have used this setup I have positioned the fan in various places including the ceiling pointing downwards to redistribute the warm air rising. Ideally the heater is positioned at the farthest point from the livestock in the room. Dont point the fan at the livestock either. Thermostat must always be as close to your ants or other livestock as possible, thats the only location in the room where temperature matters. If you can set up a water tray with an airpump or a waster mister so the fan blows through this then you can humidify the room at the same time. Or maybe sit a shallow tray of water onto the heater. Wet heat is the secret for LCA's
