The first picture with the caption shown is not even leaf cutting ant damage, in my opinion. Leaf cutters have a very characteristic pattern of cuts, this looks like a caterpillar or snail. They have obviously written this and used library pictures. One of the first articles I ever wrote was submitted to the magazine years ago on the promise that they would supplement the pictures I supplied with some 'stunning' ones of their own. When I received the article for final edit, the pictures were all of Weaver ants! Can you imagine my credibility if that had seen light of day!
