Deansie's Atta cephalotes,
I've closed off my first journal as I swapped the Acromyrmex for Atta and ill leave the build thread until I do more work to it. Will keep this journal just for colony progression.
After the move I was a bit concerned with lack of cutting but there on it today.
The hole I have drilled on the lid for ventilation is 5mm wide and has now been sealed by the ants.
Really happy with them, the first pioneer made it half way to the feeding table so hopefully that won't be long and I can empty and seal of the second cylinder until it's needed for fungus.
Will add a photo later to document starting point.

Re: Deansie's Atta cephalotes,
Short update, I had been feeding the ants from the adjacent cylinder but it was I pain in the back side as the front panel wasn't designed for frequent removal. The ants had ample opportunity to make there way to the table but never did so I closed of the fungus cylinder off and put the feeding one on the table with the walk way inside. They hadn't fed for two days and I was about to give but then yahoo! they made the break through to my delight. Little shits lol, I'm not sure if it's an un-natural feeling for them to forage downwards so that was an issue in getting them going?

Re: Deansie's Atta cephalotes,
It's been 5 days and they have broke me, I had to return the feeding cylinder beside the fungus one.
The ants have been down at the table and had ample opportunity to collect but would rather walk about and sometimes dump. I'm stumped as to why and never experienced this. I have an idea it may be down to the instincts of the ants to dump at the lowest point thus they are feeling the urge to dump at the table as it is lower, this is just a guess at tthe moment but after 5 days of the odd leaf i had to return it before it damaged the colony.
Hopefully try again in a few weeks, this could be a real issue to my set up.
