Yeah lol I noticed.

I was thinking of this:
I could have one larger tank and place a heatmat underneath and have water inside of it so the heatmat warms it up. Put their nest container in this and basically have the same setup as dean with a heatmat underneath instead of an aquarium heater. Will this work?

Formica123 wrote:I'll get one in the morning. It's basically just an acrylic container half full of peat with a heatmat on the side. It has all the problems you mentioned. When I open the lid it means the hot air escapes. It's hard to manage the air humidity and also the piping connecting to the outworld is too small. This is exactly why I want to use same setup as you just as soon as I get a heater
It's not in a viv then? Just in your room?
Wish you lived closer to come for a look, sounds very like the thread where Andrew described the illusion of humidity, all the water may be going on the sides and leaving none in the atmosphere.
If you feel it really isn't going well I'd suggest putting a bed sheet over it to start with, if it's ok double it on the next night and see how they are, this will keep the humidity in the tubs more and not on the sides. You have to do it slowly though. If you put for example a quilt over it all the droplets would evaporate and ruin the fungus.
I've had a similar learning curve.

Only thing is if you do it tonight you can't be there to monitor temperature change when your sleeping, if you do sleep? Lol, shouldn't be to significant but I'd set my alarm and check in 2 or 3 hours, bit I'm a bit anal like that! Lol

They're not doing really badly, just not growing the fungus very fast. I'll put a bed sheet over them now. The humidity inside the peat is really high I just r=feel that something isn't quite right.

You would need to try it out first, not sure what temperature the heat mat would achieve.
Have you checked your local gumtree? Get a heater dirt cheap on there.

I decoded my post from last night :D did the sheet make any difference do you think? Only been a night mind you.

Found a heater!! Pretty bad one, like these:

But more expensive. I've also attached a heatmat to the back of the tank and underneath to create an excellent, humid incubator.

Sheet worked a little but however got quite hot so I ended up just using a thin towel. Little bit of new fungus growth overnight thanks for the top :)

Not sure what's happened. Put the tub in the incubator, it's the exact same as deansies, and the fungus has lost its shape and is dying I believe !?!
The heater works. The humidity/temp is spot on I just don't know what's wrong!
I'm even using the same substrate as Deansie!
I can never get fungus to work.

Are these tubs in an incubator or just free standing in your room bud?
