Food Plants Used at Cincinnati Zoo

What you feed, where you get it from, basically we will build up a comrehensive list of suitable plants to feed Leaf Cutters. Also in temperate countries, what do you feed them in the Winter?

The following food plants were published by Randy C. Morgan as regularly used for the management of their Atta colonies. Please see his excellent paper in the Scientific Papers section of this Forum

Border Privet, Ligustrum obtusifolium (Oleaceae)
Euonymous, Euonymous species (Celanstraceae)
Forsythia flowers, Forsythia species/cultivars (Oleaceae)
Foxgrape, Vitis labrusca (Vitaceae)
Northern Catalpa, Catalpa speciosa (Bignoniaceae)
Red Mulberry, Morus rubra (Moraceae)
Tree-of-Heaven, Ailanthus altissima (Simaroubaceae)
Viburnum, Viburnum species/cultivars (Caprifoliaceae)
Willow, Salix species (Salicaceae)
