Sliced banana leaf

Another banana leaf used as food this evening from today's greenhouse pruning. Although the Atta loves these leaves, the Acromyrmex aren't so fussed. Perhaps its down to Atta having stronger cutting mandibles. The same goes for the thick Rhododendron leaves I give them. The smaller colonies seem to have a harder time working these leaves but the larger colonies readily accept them.

As you can see, Atta cephalotes really crack on break this down into bitesize chunks. Not the best news for the banana plantations I imagine.
