Atta cephalotes in Victoria BC

Post your builds, private or commercial set ups. This is where we will document the creation of housing or the planning and construction of projects from scratch. This differs from the Journal Section because this section does not concentrate on the Ants or the other animals that are being kept, this section focuses on the progress of the build.

Justin, hi, been very busy lately! As a result the forum is quite quiet. But.... your display looks absolutely fantastic!!!! The fungus is epic. Really fills the chamber. In answer to your question, yes absolutely, move 1/3rd fungus to new chamber. Make sure the queen stays in the chamber it was in and does not get moved with the 1/3 fungus. Knock some of the fungus from the remaining fungus in chamber 1 to cover the floor where the fungus was removed from, the ants will grow this up from there.
But be careful. The more you expand this colony, the quicker you will run into problems relating to the number of ants you need to cull!! I would suspect that this would happen over the next 8-12 months.
Look forward to seeing you in July in Arizona.
Andrew
