We're always looking at more modern and affordable formicariums here at a BA headquarters! Here's something we're working on at the moment!

Care to expand a little? Is it sand in the bottom?

I use white sand in the foraging area, helps to avoid slim and moisture that builds up. White so it shows the ants up! The Attas are always moving it about in there tank!

I really like the cylinders Sean, nice crispy look. No option for venntilation on top? You going to be selling them anytime soon?

Sean, where have you been all my life!!
That looks great!
Can they be in different sizes. Can you drill the cylinder for more connections and expand to several cylinders. So many questions, so little time.

I've created them so they can be extended, the "run" can be doubled or trebled without bending making it about 3 metres long. You could attach a small length of pipe to another unit with multiple outlets meaning you can go sideways or up and stack them! I've designed this one from research and issues I've had! Whenever I ventilate a fungus garden it doesn't do so well, from the hundreds of videos and pictures I've seen the fungus gardens aren't directly ventilated, that said the lid isn't air tight but is ant tight! :) the outworld is so much easier to get my chubby hands in and out with new and old material, it would make sense to have multiple out worlds and alternate their feeding to avoid them laying in wait like the Attas do! :)
Thanks for the comments btw! I'll be monitoring their progress carefully!

Spent the day costing it all out, 2 containers 150mmx 150mm with 5mm lid on each and ventilation in foraging area (8mm) with 40count mesh, 2x half metre of quality Perspex tubing 20mm OD and connections required would retail at £41.50
I,lol see what Antstore are selling theirs for!
