So I am well on with the work on my new ant room. Its a complete new build and I am following the plan shown below.

So the ant room is designed to hold around 500 colonies. 100 of these will be Atta cephalotes, 100 Acromyrmex octospinosis. However the real reason for the expansion is next Feb I am planning an expedition to Paraguay and I hope to bring back many other species.
The bays shown below are designed the same way as my existing single bay which works very well.

The glass stands on the opposite wall will cater for the bigger colonies which I will grow on.

The work top in the centre will be where all of the research and feeding etc will be done.

As a matter of interest I have a vacancy for an intern to work over 18 months starting next year, caring for the colonies, helping with research and hopefully training to visit establishments and set up colonies in zoos etc. Early days yet but I reckon 500 colonies is pretty much a full time job, especially when new colonies will require new techniques. I will post new photos of the actual space and how it looks just now, tomorrow.

That looks great, leafcutters on an industrial scale lol. Will be a full time job feeding and maintaining them, you employing someone? May sound funny to some to suggest but I think it would be that much work when up near capacity.

Should have read the last paragraph before posting. Me bad

Sean, as I live and breathe! Missed you. Hows your Atta colony? Always thought that one would get really big quickly. And how are you?

Been better but my ants have kept me sane! They're rather large now! X

It's a job that I would love....but sadly, I have many bills to pay... I'm sure you will find someone suitable quite quickly...
