My nest idea! Need help with ideas and advice please!!!

Post your builds, private or commercial set ups. This is where we will document the creation of housing or the planning and construction of projects from scratch. This differs from the Journal Section because this section does not concentrate on the Ants or the other animals that are being kept, this section focuses on the progress of the build.

Hello and welcome, your idea is interesting. If you could try and do a diagram it would help us see what your thinking, where the pipe, rope etc connects.. The vertical viv is an interesting idea and looks great.

Welcome. Nice idea and reminds of my dart frog days, i had a sump tank in the bottom and a Eheim lift pump circulating water to the top which was heated and kept the viv nice and warm and humid, but something that tall there is going to be a huge heat gradient. It would possibly be easier if it was wide rather than tall perhaps.
Interesting.... Hark at me and i haven't got my ants yet :)

Chris, great to see you here. Tall tank looks interesting. So are we talking about the nest in the bottom of the tank and the feeding area at the top? If so then it should possibly be done traditionally with water in the bottom and everything else above sitting on a platform so the water prevents escapes and can be heated to give humidity and temperature. Only problem would be condensation and heating the top part of the tank. Glass sliding front doors. But they would be very narrow and difficult to slide. Maybe hinged front like an exoterra tank. Light in the top to illuminate the feeding. So it would likely be a stack, dump chamber at bottom, then two or three nest tanks, then a stem coming up to a feeding table. Is that something like you were thinking?

I love this idea, I tried it before but can't find a finished picture, it was an upright that had three tanks connected via tubes. Image

@acro. (Site manager)

Yes that more like what I want using the water at the bottom to heat it and having them on stilts with a few platforms and nest tanks going up to food platforms and also yes if need to have doors to open out so I can get in and I was thinking of having pipe holes near the middle and the tops so I have options on wear I can make and extension at some point but I'm not a handy man so I need it build for me when I get the ants at the same time sort of thing! But my worry is the money I need to find out if it's affordable? But still trying to find out
