Re: Magic's first set up
This is looking great, seeing it take shape now. When I done my first Acromyrmex set up I had heat mats in the left and right side of the fungus tank as you looked at it. I found the heat gradient was enormous. I was getting readings like 21-22 in the soil to 29 at the top. I then put a third mat underneath and the difference reduced to a few degrees.
I did have the fungus tank sitting on 1 cm spacers so the mat was loose under there.
It was a single fungus tank and a bit bigger than yours

Re: Magic's first set up
Your going to want good heat transfer Magic so I'd remove the foil on the shelf that the tank is sitting on, I'd also think about modifying the shelf possibly, especially if you put the heat below. Perhaps shortening the width of it to allow better air movement. Optimum would be a mesh type shelf that allows free movement. I would have preferred to do that myself but couldn't get hold of anything suitable.

Thank you for that Jamie . That helps a lot . I'm going to do some changes and put the heat cable under the nests

So fungus in the bottom and food in the top? The colony you get will be big enough to fill one of those containers within a few weeks and will forage along a pipe immediately.
