Fungus is smaller

Post by Magic » Sat Oct 08, 2016 8:02 pm

Hi guys .
Don't know what is really happening but my fungus got a lot smaller . It looks good and healthy but it's twice smaller as 2months ago . The ants are cutting every day and covering fungus with leaves . 2 months ago they separated the fungus and created 4 smaller gardens . They put it back together but doesn't looks as good as before .
Same temperature and humidity:/

Perhaps they have just got rid of some of the old stuff and are still rebuilding, is the dump growing too ?

Hi magic, nice to hear from you!
Some photos would be great, not seen any since May, might help see an issue.

Definitely not what I would have expected after the start you had. I'd place my bets on humidity, so you haven't changed anything on the set up at all? Haven't moved heat mat placement etc....

They look to have moved a lot of soil from around the fungus revealing the bare glass, might not be helping with maintaining humidity with it being a larger space.
Are you taking the humidity measurement at the fungus?

Yeah I know , didn't look as good as months ago that's why I'm worried . I didn't changed anything really . Same temperature And humidity .
It's lots of little small soil insects ? And some time ago I changed lives for deferent one which the ants liked a lot but I have back to rose now and the fungus started to look better after few days .

Changed leaves for different ones?
Bit of a typo buddy.
Where are they dumping? Is it far from the fungus?
The little insects are springtails, there cleaners so not bad but I don't like when there are millions of them which can sometimes happen if the ants are dumping their waste close to the fungus.

Rose can be tricky to get unless you have your own I find as folk aren't as keen to let you pinch from it as they are a privet ha ha.

Roses suffer from various issues like rust and black spot so will be rejected, the material I feed changes dependants on the seasons and they're uptake to it! I recall privet was rejected earlier in the year due to the new soft growth.
