We've named our personal colonies so it's easier to distinguish between the two, QE2 is doing well and consists of 3 medium tanks attached with 20mm Perspex.

The picture above shows the addition of the colony. The lids are 3mm Perspex with 20mm holes (yet to be drilled)

The two central tanks contain other species but the Perspex walkway above is the colony going about their business.

Good to see something different buddy as I think I've said before. Try plumbers tape on the mesh, can get a cleaner finish than celotape buddy

I bought some plumbers tape, not got a moment to use it! It's all work an no play got me at mo. The ventilation of the units was an interesting moment, I added a vent to the container Image
Needless to say in 5 days the fungus reduced by about 25% thankfully this was reblocked with a cotton plug and things have already started to increase again! It's a matter of tinkering and closely observing and monitoring that makes for the ideal set up.

I know you like a clean setup but a small spoon of peat or soil and the ants themselves will take care of the ventillation so it perfectly suits them.

I decided to downsize my Atta QEI colony that I was going to do a journal on. It was housed in a tank that was oversized, the ants rarely ventured more than 5cm from the fungus so here's a video of moi complete with all the high tech gear I use to handle my fungus! Lol

This is the colony that i have used to test on, they have fostered fungus and soldier pupae with great success and the Queen is a lot more active than most of my others! She's really confident. Comments welcome!
