Acromyrmex sp from Brazil

Post by fourmis 91 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:18 pm

I keep seven Acromyrmex sp Brazil queens collected on November, 8th in Porto Alegre.
I have added fungus from an Acromyrmex colony to help them and now the fungus is growing.
My colonies are polygyn, two have got 2 queens and one, 1 queen.
All "colonies" have got eggs and one has got few larvaes.

You are doing very well with these, seems you have managed to get them some distance along. What species are they again?
Queens are difficult to get going. I often come across nuptial flights of Acromyrmex in Trinidad but have never collected mated queens because it is a lot of work. Might be there would be enough interest from others to raise some queens here.

I would do anything to raise atta from a queen/very small colony or Acromyrmex from a queen
I keep over 20 species of ant, inc. Acromyrmex Octospinosus

A friend sent me them from Brazil.
I don't know the specie, I only know it is not octospinosus and lundi.
In fact, it is really interesting to keep leaf cutters from a queen. :)
