Cockroaches on a winged male!

Post by Acromyrmexbob » Sun Feb 14, 2016 11:16 am

Found this. This species of cockroach are only found in Leaf Cutting Ant nests. These two are hitching a ride on a male atta. Apart from how ridiculous the males look with their tiny heads, (with only enough room for one thought I think) this is amazing to see.

And you know what that one thought is...

Are the cockroaches found living on the fungus too?

Atta cephalotes (2019)
Camponotus detritus (2018)
Camponotus maculatus (2018)

Not sure, suspect that they will be dump chamber mongers!

Most likely, I remember when I was flapping about seeing mites in my dump chamber and continuously emailing you to make sure they were harmless. Turns out there's loads of crawlies in dump chambers.

Camponotus detritus (2018)
Camponotus maculatus (2018)
